In this study, the author presents science fiction writers Eva Hauserová and Carola Biedermannová in the context of Czech feminism in the 1980s and 1990s. She proposes seeing their work and activity as an example of hybrid emancipation between the socialist emancipation of women (based on experience) and the Western feminist tradition. In the first part of the study, the author introduces the work of Carola Biedermannová and Eva Hauserová within the Czechoslovak science fiction fandom and shows that it was in this environment that they emerged as feminists in the late 1980s.
